A story of strength, courage, hope, determination...Jessica Kochis Fedeli, 31, a history and psychology teacher at St. Savior H.S., Park Slope, for the last four years, died May 23 after a five-year battle with cancer.
"Jessica was a person, first and foremost, of faith, one who selflessly and generously responded to God's call. She taught with courage and conviction and she taught all of us more than history and psychology. She taught us to live life to the fullest and to live it with dignity and respect," said Sister Valeria Belanger, SSND, St. Savior principal.
Fedeli was featured on The Tablet Youth Page in February, 2007, for joining other diocesan high school teachers on a mission trip to build homes for families recovering from Hurricane Katrina in Louisianna.
Prior to working at St. Savior, Fedeli was a Good Shepherd Volunteer.
She is survived by her mother, Colleen Kochis, and her husband, Sean, a teacher at St. John's Prep, Astoria.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on May 28. Burial was in Green-Wood Cemetery, Sunset Park.

'After returning home from Jessica's funeral in New York I was angry. Here I was, perfectly healthy, I hung inspirational sayings on my walls instead of going out and being an inspiration. It was at that moment I decided I had to do something, so I began telling Jessica's story...' - Selena Kerr
